Questions
Boating Days pulls wind speed, wind gusts, precipitation chance, thunderstorm risk, visibility, cloud cover, and temperature from Apple WeatherKit and combines them into a single 1–10 score. A thunderstorm risk caps the score at 3 and high wind (over 20 mph, or gusts over 25 mph) caps it at 5, regardless of how good everything else looks — so the score always reflects the thing that matters most that day.
Boating Days will be free to download. The free tier lets you check scores for any lake and favorite one lake. Boating Days Pro (monthly or yearly subscription, with a 7-day free trial) unlocks the planning calendar, unlimited favorite lakes, hourly forecasts, score-history charts, and forecast/weather/great-day notifications.
Boating Days requires iOS 17.0 or later and uses your device's location to find nearby lakes and score conditions where you are. WeatherKit and location access are both required for accurate scoring.
With Pro, Boating Days watches every upcoming trip on your calendar and alerts you when the forecast shifts meaningfully, when bad weather is moving in within 48 hours, or when conditions turn out great for a trip you already planned. You're in control of which alerts are on in Settings.
Boating Days searches lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and bays using Apple Maps, so coverage follows wherever Apple Maps and WeatherKit have data — which includes the vast majority of recreational boating spots in the U.S. If a smaller or unnamed body of water doesn't show up in search, it likely isn't mapped as a named feature yet.
